Plastic Surgery Wellington NZ

Although I do not operate out of Wellington it still would be to your advantage to undergo your procedures at my Auckland Remuera plastic surgery practice.

I am a New Zealand fully trained, approved and accredited plastic, reconstructive, cosmetic and hand surgeon. I do offer a range of both cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures such as breast reduction, breast augmentation, fat transfer, breast lift and breast reconstruction. I perform labiaplasty, tummy tuck, liposuction as well as skin cancer and hand surgery. I fully enjoy the surgery of the face and neck, in particular blepharoplasty.

The main advantages of being seen by me in Auckland are:
1. I am one of a handful of female plastic surgeons operating in New Zealand
2. I am the only female plastic surgeon who is able to offer breast, trunk and facial aesthetic surgery
3. I am one of only a few plastic surgeons ever awarded PhD in New Zealand
4. I have trained extensively both in the UK (London) and internationally (Canada) and undertook a number of internationally recognised fellowships
5. My creative and artistic temperament lends itself well to my passion in aesthetic surgery

What to expect from the consultation:

I see all my patients for at least two pre-operative consultations. During the first consultation, I take a history, examine my patient, discuss all available options and formulate a plan. I discuss the goals, what to expect from the procedure, and what the motivation is. I complete both the medical and social history.
If the patient decides to proceed with the surgery, a second consultation is scheduled to go over things once more and discuss the possible complications in more detail. I often am able to offer it via a video-link.

How can you prepare for your procedure:

Preparation depends mainly on the type of surgical procedure planned. Aspirin or products containing aspirin need to be avoided for 2 weeks either side of the operation since aspirin thins the blood and affects bruising. You may also be asked to stop taking substances such as garlic, ginko, ginseng and St John’s Wort as they may affect clotting and anaesthesia.
It is absolutely required that smoking is stopped for at least 6 weeks before surgery and for 6 weeks afterwards. Smoking restricts the circulation to the skin. In fact, I usually don’t offer surgeries to patients who smoke at all.

One of the nurses from the hospital will call you the week before your surgery to confirm the time and to give you your pre-op instructions. This will be a good opportunity to ask any last-minute questions you may have.

Clear water can be drunk up to 2 hours before surgery and tea without milk or coffee without milk can also be taken. Milk cannot be taken within 6 hours of the start of surgery.
On the morning of surgery, you will be admitted to the ward and you will meet the anaesthetist. The anaesthetist will discuss the risk of anaesthetic with you in detail. Then you will also your surgeon.

Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to organise help for a few days at home.

The recovery time depends on which procedure you wish to proceed with. There are many accommodation options available if you are unable to stay with a friend or a family member in Auckland. Patients stay in Auckland for 1-7 nights, depending on the procedure.
