Plastic Surgery New Plymouth

Although I do not currently see patients in person or operate out of New Plymouth it would be beneficial for you to see me and undergo the surgery at my Auckland plastic surgery practice.

I am an approved and accredited plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon, fully trained in New Zealand. I offer a very broad range of plastic surgery procedure, including cosmetic surgery, reconstruction, hand surgery and skin cancer treatment and reconstruction. I specifically specialise in breast surgery such as breast reduction, breast augmentation, fat transfer, breast lift and breast reconstruction. In addition, I perform in labiaplasty, tummy tuck, liposuction, surgery of the face, in particular blepharoplasty.

The main advantages of being seen by me are:

1. I am one of very few female plastic surgeons operating in New Zealand
2. My work is concentrated on procedures for the breast and face. In fact, more than half of my patients come to him specifically for breast surgery and labiaplasty
3. My top priority is always the health and safety of his patients, even if that means I can’t do everything a patient wants.
4. I am one of only 4 plastic surgeons ever awarded PhD in New Zealand
5. I have trained extensively both in the UK and internationally and undertook a number of prestigious fellowships over three years

What to expect from the consultation:

Many of my patients travel from all over New Zealand to have their procedures done at my Visage Plastic Surgery Clinic. Sometimes I do offer Zoom consultation. My goal is to make your experience as relaxing and rewarding as possible.

On your end, you may be asked to send photographs of your areas of concern—front and side views—as well as a list of any medications, vitamins or supplements you’re currently taking. We will guide you through every step of this process.

I normally see my patients for at least two pre-operative consultations. During your consultation, you can explain your goals for the procedure, discuss your personal and medical history, and talk about any questions you might have regarding the procedure or the process. I provide you with a set of guidelines to follow before and after your surgery and keep you connected with your doctor.

If the patient decides to move forward towards surgery, a second consultation is scheduled to go over things once more and discuss the possible complications in more detail.

How to prepare for your procedure:

Preparation depends on the type of plastic surgery procedure planned. It is important to avoid taking blood thinning medications if safe for 2 weeks either side of the operation. You may also be asked to stop taking over the counter purchased substances such as garlic, ginko, ginseng and St John’s Wort as they may affect clotting and anaesthesia.

If you are a smoker it is absolutely imperative that smoking is stopped for 6 weeks before surgery and for 6 weeks afterwards so as not to restrict the circulation to the skin. In fact, I usually don’t operate on patients who smoke at all.

On the morning of surgery, you will be admitted to the ward and will meet the anaesthetist who will discuss the anaesthetic with you in detail and you will also see the surgeon.

It is important that while making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days at home.

I will customize your procedure plan and post-op based on your schedule. I recommend you stay in Auckland after your surgery for the following minimum time periods after each procedure. I also recommend you plan a trip back within a month for one additional follow up.

Accommodation:

Often times patients will have a better experience if they have friends and family with them during their recovery period. Your recovery time is dependent on which procedure you wish to have done. There are various accommodation options on offer if you are unable to stay with a friend or a family member in Auckland. Depending on type of procedure, patients stay in Auckland for 1-5 nights.
